Denver Broncos (Top)

Round, Name, Pos, School
1 11(11) Jay Cutler QB VANDERBILT
2 29(61) Tony Scheffler TE WESTERN MICHIGAN
4 22(119) Brandon Marshall WR CENTRAL FLORIDA
4 29(126) Elvis Dumervil DE LOUISVILLE
4 33(130) Domenik Hixon WR AKRON
5 29(161) Chris Kuper OG NORTH DAKOTA
6 29(198) Greg Eslinger OC MINNESOTA

Overall Draft Grade:

B

The Cutler pick was a surprise, but a good pick, with the inconsistent play of Jake Plummer. Sheffler may have been a bit of a reach, but he will fit in well to the Broncos system. Dumerville was a solid pick and will be a good situational pass rusher and special teamer. Hixon could be a real sleeper at the WR postion. Don't forget about the acquisition of Javon Walker. A very productive draft day for the Broncos.
2006 Fantasy Impact: Moderate: Culter probably won't see much, if any, time this season. Scheffler could wind up making a significant contribution because of the Broncos system. The other rookie receivers will take time to develop and won't see much playing time.

6 21(190) Jeff Webb WR SAN DIEGO STATE
7 20(228) Jarrad Page S UCLA

Overall Draft Grade:

C+

The Chiefs had some major needs at CB and should have addressed them much sooner than the 5th round. Hali is a good player, but the Chiefs run defense last season was not their problem. Croyle was a good pickup at the right time. Webb could be a WR to develop but he will take time.

2006 Fantasy Impact: Insignificant: Croyle will be a developmental QB who won't see much playing time, if any, in 06'. Webb is a project also, who won't see much time on the field.

Overall Draft Grade:

B+

Huff, in our estimation, was one of the safest picks in the draft and should step into the shoes of departed CB Charles Woodson on day one. Howard was a very solid pick in the second round who should also contribute right away. Bing was good value in the 4th as well.
2006 Fantasy Impact: Insignificant: No offensive fantasy impact players drafted.

7 17(225) Chase Page DT NORTH CAROLINA
7 19(227) Jimmy Martin OT VIRGINIA TECH

Overall Draft Grade:

C+

Cromartie tested well in the combine, but we just have a problem with drafting a guy this high who has only started two games in his college career. McNeil was a very solid pick in the second round and Whitehurst is a good young QB to groom as a backup.
2006 Fantasy Impact: Insignificant: McNeil may get some playing time and evey crack the starting lineup this season, but shouldn't have much impact on the fantasy output of others around him.
